Dr. Steven Macchione is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Treatment of Anxiety and Mood Disorders who specializes in treating adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, phase of life problems and marital issues. Before joining the Center, Dr. Macchione gained experience providing individual and group psychotherapy in university and community mental health clinics, as well as regional and state psychiatric hospitals. This broad experience has prepared him to help people at various stages in their problems.
Dr. Macchione uses an eclectic approach that incorporates existential and person-centered perspectives with components of cognitive behavioral therapy. He is a warm and patient therapist who effects lasting change through the development of a trusting and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship.
Before his pursuit of a career in clinical psychology, Dr. Macchione earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada. Then, following his passion for psychology, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from York University in Toronto, Canada, where he graduated magna cum laude. His graduate studies were completed at Nova Southeastern University where he earned Master of Science and Doctor of Psychology degrees in Clinical Psychology.
