Dr. KC Charette specializes in treating individuals who have experienced a major life change, trauma, grief and/or loss and are experiencing adjustment difficulties, anxiety, and/or depression. Dr. Charette provides individual treatment, as well as couples and family therapy to help an individual/couple/family adjust to significant life changes and cope with associated difficulties. She utilizes evidenced-based interventions, as well as incorporates holistic (wellness) approaches into treatment. Dr. Charette brings her experience of working in a Women’s Clinic and providing treatment for women with postpartum depression/anxiety and couples/families adjusting to pregnancy and parenthood to The Center for Treatment of Anxiety and Mood Disorders. Additional concerns related to starting a family and the journey of pregnancy, such as infertility, miscarriage and related OBGYN-procedures are part of her treatment experience. She also has extensive background in treating military veterans and first-responders. Dr. Charette is genuine and warm and creates an environment where clients feel safe and empowered to navigate their experiences.
Dr. Charette earned her Masters and Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She completed her doctoral training at the American Psychological Association (APA)-Accredited program at the Gainesville Veteran’s Affairs (VA) Medical Center. Dr. Charette was selected for another year of specialized training at the Gainesville VA Medical Center through a year-long, APA-accredited residency in trauma/PTSD. Prior to joining The Center for Treatment of Anxiety and Mood Disorders, Dr. Charette was a full-time, Staff Psychologist at a local medical center where she provided a range of services within a Women’s Clinic. In addition to seeing clients individually, Dr. Charette has run therapy groups throughout her career and values the unique growth that can occur through group therapy. Outside of seeing clients, she has been involved in helping to train future psychologists through multiple Clinical Psychology Training Programs. Dr. Charette is licensed in Florida.
